The Top 4 Places to Visit in NI for Christmas

Exploring Northern Ireland: The Hidden Treasures

Northern Ireland is a country steeped in history, culture and natural beauty. Many people when they travel to Northern Ireland scratch only the surface of what this country has to offer. If you've visited The Giants Causeway, Belfast City etc. etc. and need some inspiration for where to go next, then this list is for you. This list features 5 must-see places (along with some honourable mentions towards the end) for a truly unforgettable experience.

1) Ulster American Folk Park- Country Tyrone

Kicking off the list is the Ulster American Folk Park, located in Omagh, Country Tyrone. The park is steeped in 18th century history, telling the story of Irish immigration particularly from Ireland to America. Be prepared to be transported through time, through the park's thatched cottages, log cabins, ship replica, as well as interactive experiences such as spinning and weaving. The park also hosts a range of seasonal events, including Christmas and Halloween. This is one must-see place for a truly culture-rich experience.

2) Rathlin Island

Just off the coast of County Antrim lies Rathlin Island. Rathlin Island has something to offer for everyone- whether you're a nature lover, history enthusiast or are simply looking for a tranquil get away. The island is a paradise for birdwatchers- the RSPB centre provides a unique opportunity to watch the island's hosts of birds in their natural habitat. Afterwards, you should pay a visit the island's only pub McCuaig's for a beer with a stunning view.

3) The Marble Arch Caves- Fermanagh

The Marble Arch Caves walking tour is truly the most magical experience that Northern Ireland has to offer. Located in the foothills of Cuilcagh Mountain, just a few short minutes from Enniskillen in County Fermanagh, the caves boast some unforgettable features such as underground rivers and hidden tunnels. One of the highlights of this stunning experience is perhaps the boat tour that passes through a series of illuminated caverns and chambers for a truly one of a kind, magical experience. A place I have yet to see for myself, but is No.1 on my to visit list.

5) The Game of Thrones Studio Tour

Perhaps one of the more well known tourist attractions in Northern Ireland, but still qualified to make the list, is the The Game of Thrones Studio Tour in Banbridge. Before compiling this list, I wasn't aware of what the tour entailed. After much research I felt obliged to include it on this list as a must see spot in Northern Ireland. I wish to one day visit this attraction for myself but for now, here is everything you need to know.
